PLAY-CATION

( dedicate this blog to my older sister, Mary)

I'm not sure if playcation is a real word, I thought of it while Nadine was running around playing with my neice and nephew.

Mary, my oldest sister moved way North years ago. (I didn't handle it very well). When I was mature enough to realize my brother in law didn't take her away from me and got over a fear to fly, I made it my mission to go visit her frequent! I had such a great time when I'd go vist her and Dan. We'd go to different coffee shops, hit the local malls, and my awesome brother-in-law would take Mary and I out to the downtown bar, and local resterants. Such fun memories! When Mary started to have babies and got pregnant- again, again, again, and again..I flew to visit more then ever! The anticipation of my first neice was overwhelming ( in a good way). I think for the entire family it was such a amazing thing to have happen.

Finally, during a hot summer month, 12 years ago, lovely Kelsey arrived. Life never prepared me for how amazing being her Aunt would be. The love I felt for her was truely and still is wonderful. During my visits , I would hold Kelsey for almost the entire time.

When my goddaughter Kateri arrived , my life got even more interesting each time I flew up to visit. Not only were my brother-in-law and sister glad to have a helping hand once I arrived, the "new parent" rules were set, but not fully in place. So my visit with little Kateri and tot Kelsey were fun and less stressful for all. (By the way I also had the new parent worries and set place rules..you know the overboard washing hands, don't breathe near the baby, don't don't dont..).

Once Liam aka THE BOY, came along , not only was I there for his birth ..I had full playtime with the girls while Mary hung with her son. Pulling the girls in the wagon, visiting the local ice cream parlor and local shops, were just some of our favorite past times, as well as playing with baby dolls and having tea parties. A few weeks after Liam was born, I flew up again to babysit him and the girls while Mary and Dan attended a party! They were so psyched, they barely said "bye" to me that evening as they basically RAN out the door!

The enchanting Keira , six months older then my Nadine, myself on a bedrest for couple months, puking my brains out, unfortunatly I didn't get to "bond" with her as much as I had hoped. However one neat bit of info that I cherish, is at the time I was pregnant with Nadine, both of my sisters were pregnant at the same time, for a little bit, with one of their children.

Im so lucky! To spend as much time as I did with my neices and nephews before Nadine was born ,and now to have Nadine included in the older kids lives , and play with the younger children! Mary is a amazing mother to boot! You should see her in action. Being a mother to five children, i'm sure is no easy task, but she seems to handle it effortlessly. She is truely a fabulous Mommy.

Since Nadine was born she's been on fourteen flights with me to visit her awesome cousins and outstanding aunt and uncle! Each trip gets better and better. Since Keating arrived one year ago, playing only got better. Last week as I watched Nadine play with her cousins I realized, I've been playing for the past thirteen years when I've visited too. I've gone on "playcation" to visit my sis, bro-in-law and their kids, and now, myself and Nadine go together, to playcate! And playcate we do!!!
