Nadine was a superstar today at the surgeons office! Seriously I'm so proud of my little girl!
She even dressed up for the doctor, pink sparkling shoes, heart dress and pink hair clip, white fluffy dog in hand
(Not a real one), and her duckie blankie not to far.
Conversation of her procedure has been discussed since her birth-date,
It amazes me how Nadine has become so "as a matter of fact" about her surgeries. it boggles my mind how she queries about the human body since surgery. Now knowing what surgical staples are, a scalpel, operating room and so on. Because she asks such complex questions, its imperative to her that we answer honestly. Her Daddy and I answer as best we can.
Soon after her procedure last year, Nadine asked "why do I have this on my head and my friends don't have to go to the hospital too"? I replied, "everybody is born different".
I'm not sure if this was the right answer, but Nadine seems to think it was.
I'm grateful everyday for my little lady. She teaches me daily to smile, be happy and to laugh! When I watch and listen to Nadine, I am reminded that life can be simple and to appreciate even the smallest of moments. Time is going fast, she's growing up! Its a bittersweet daily observation, but I feel like the luckiest person to be able to have the opportunity to hang out with her almost every hour of the days.
This week started countdown as we anticipate another surgery. As we walked out of he surgeons office, trying to act as natural and calm as I can be, Nadine looks up at me and calmly says "mommy game on". I looked down at her with a smile, thinking to myself what in the world is she saying?? At that moment she looks up at with the sweetest expression and explains "mommy its no biggie, the doctors know what to do and game on".
