It's all about being four.
Since Nadine turned four,it seems that Princess'and Barbie have taken over and playong with baby dolls has taken on a entire different meaning. She loves her baby dolls, as well as anything princess or pink! Since watching princess type movies, Nadine is speaking of "married" (who she might marry). Its hilarious to listen to her tell me she's going to marry a boy from preschool. Her latest tell-all, "mommy when I have a baby, you can come over everyday ".
Strange and funny when these comments arise, these are the moments I wonder what our lives will be when Nadine is fifteen, twenty-one, etc..
A couple months ago I knew riding a bicycle with training wheels would come easy to Nadine, but didn't realize she rather drive a electric Barbie Jeep.
Drawing Smiley faces, has become perfection, and writing her letters are surely fully obtainable by mid-school year " do you like my letter N mommy?".
Pumping on the "older kid" swing, was big fun this past fall "look mommy, I can do it myself".
Making up lyrics to tunes playing on the car radio, as well as making up her own songs is just one of my little ladies talents.
Diving into the swimming pool (jumping into the blow up pool ), makes Nadine light up with delight.
Pretty dresses, sparkle shoes and changing her clothes a few times a day
"mommy I look beautiful ".
I do so love all her pleasantries, her widdy, honest, smart, funny personality.
With another surgery to come, ( one behind us)Nadine handles it all in stride. She loves to play doctor or nurse . After all, this is part of her life. With one surgery behind her, she knows what a operating room looks like, what the "smelly stuff "( as she calls it), is that helps her go to sleep before surgery and obtaing IV anesthesia. At four she has spoken to several doctors, and has asked a anesthesiologist about her blue scrubs.
As part of our night time routine, Nadine and I talk about our day.
Even though we've been with each other the entire day, still as my ears tune into her sweet, quite voice and she rehashs the day I am reminded why I became a mother. Each night we read a book, two and sometimes three. Each night my four year old wraps her little arms around my neck and says " I love you mommy" and I reply " I love you much more".
